The term hack or hacking comes with some negative connotations, so first-off let’s get some clarity on what the term means in this sense. Hacking is t

7 Get more from your idea workshops by disrupting the status-quo

This is a really simple one to help you get better results from idea workshops. If you are looking for radical, potentially disruptive ideas (rather than "this broke, any ideas how we can stop if happening again") you can greatly increase your chances by taking the time and effort to disrupt the status-quo of how you run meetings and workshops.

Added by Michael Allen: “If you liked the previous chapter about using differentiation (so simply looking to make the same product different by changing the size, quantity, purpose, value proposition or customer experience) here are some ideas from one of the workshops I ran.

Here's a brilliant idea workshop game. The ideas below came from a group of staff in a Bank in London - one of our new clients. I asked them to imagine they worked for a business that made plastic bin-liners (something so far away from banking) and set them a Challenge to come up with ideas for new products or

Added by Michael Allen: “Before you say "yeh, but our business is much more complex, well what about this example of how you innovate the ubiquitous cardboard box. Ideas are there is you look hard enough for them!

10 Innovation is possible everywhere!

Think it's going to be hard to innovate in your sector? Think that your products are as good as they will ever be? Think all the good ideas have been discovered? Are you sure? Look at what's possible even with the ubiquitous cardboard box. Brilliant.

Added by Michael Allen: “How to listen to ideas. Some rules before you run any workshops. How people respond to ideas is very important - they can either enhance or crush the creative process so I suggest you start workshops with these rules!

Here my five essential rules for listening to ideas.
